Set in the heart of Vienne, just a few hundred metres from the lovely Charente River Le Magnou offers the perfect holiday in a part of Rural South West France which remains completely unspoiled.

Far enough south to enjoy a lovely warm climate and yet after just 5 hours driving from the Channel coast you can be relaxing on the terrace.

We will provide essential provisions for your arrival and of course a bottle of local wine – nicely chilled to welcome you.

Whether you like walking, cycling, exploring the local markets or just relaxing on the terrace Le Magnou will be your perfect retreat. Shopping in the wonderful boutiques in Poitier or Angouleme, taking a day out to the harbour or great beaches near La Rochelle, visiting the many interesting attractions like Futurescope or the Vallee-des-Singes, the choice is yours – but what better place to return to for that evening barbecue.

The region is famous for Pineau des Charentes, a regional French aperitif made almost exclusively in Poitier – Charente and local produce, crafts and brocantes. Visit Cognac and discover the famous Brandy producers or head a little further South into the Bordeaux wine region.

Civray (5Km) our nearest commercial centre has markets on Tuesdays and Fridays and the local supermarket at Savigne’ (2km) has a glorious selection of fresh fruit and vegetables – not to mention the fresh fish counter and vast selection of wines, beers and spirits.

In fact everything you could possibly hope for is available either at home or just a short distance away.

Le Magnou was originally designed so that we could have 2 separate situations - "The House" and "The Gite" - but we have discovered that the vast majority of guests prefer the privacy of sole occupancy and as a result we now only offer the whole property but with a sliding scale of charges depending on the number of guests.
